Enjoy Tomorrow Today
A downloadable FIST mission
"I've encountered a decent number of explosives over the years and not many leave behind a crater that is a perfect sphere, and no external damage or radiation left behind."
- Quote from interview featured in the West Berlin Worker newspaper. Removed from the actual published version, provided to FIST intelligence by our insider at the paper's offices.
Enjoy Tomorrow Today is a module for FIST Ultra Edition TTRPG system. The mission should take one 3-4 hour session, with plenty of opportunities for future connected missions. For those interested in continuing the storylines started in this scenario you will find a list of ideas at the end of the document.
Two weeks ago there was a huge explosion at the Oland Laboratories facility in West Berlin. The media has been super excited to blame Soviet terrorism and corporate rivalries, but those in the paranormal kind of business have been interested for very different reasons, namely the crater left by the explosion is a perfect sphere and not a single piece of evidence appears to be left behind, meaning this weapon is likely not the kind any old soldier of fortune would be carrying around.
Just as you were starting to forget about this incident you are contacted by the personal assistant to the CEO and genius mind behind Oland Laboratories: Felix Oland. Her name is Cassie Bergman and she has a highly confidential subject to discuss with you at a Ski Lodge in Switzerland. During this adventure you will encounter some pretty strange stuff:
- EQUIPMENT THAT'S A BLAST TO USE - Jakob at the Swiss base is talented but he certainly seems to have a few biases in his designs....
- PUNK ROCK PRE-DIATRICS?! - Heck, it turns out some of those stories the bible-bashers hit you with as a kid were worth listening to, because now you'll be lucky if you don't get bashed 6 feet under.
- THE DOG WITH THE IRON MASK - Okay, it probably isn't iron and is steel or something but gimmie a break. Either way, things would be a lot easier if all this dog cared about was giant sandwiches!
This mission is my entry to the FIST: ULTRA JAM. Since FIST was the first TTRPG I ever published content for and the community's kindness and acceptence motivated me to start making my own TTRPGs (which, it turns out, is a heck of a lot more work :3) I knew I wanted to create something for this jam the moment I heard about it, and I am very pleased I managed to do that!

Why you should check this out: a clear one-shot with well thought-out options for tackling its challenges.
Style: a simple but clear 1-column layout is supported by consistent formatting for headers, enemies and risk rolls. The writing is almost story-like, and the scenario is presented in a linear way.
Structure: the scenario is clear up-front that it’s a one-shot. The next steps are a nice addition for linking to other scenarios. Headings divide the writing into different scenes that the players will encounter.
Content: a few, well-thought out options are given for resolving each of the challenges in the scenario. The adventure involves a change of location which I love in a one-shot as it adds to the action film nature of the game. The writing gets its ideas and the vibe across well.
NB: the flavour for the ’wasted youth’ wasn’t for me, but could be changed to suit your group without impacting the mission.
Thanks Peter! I've had similar responses from others regarding the wasted youth, I certainly will consider presenting an alternative for those not so keen on gross/horror elements
